3 Membership/Subscription Website Success Tips
The answers are NOT always so EASY, even to a professional print or electronic publisher. The sources used to generate membership website subscriptions are very different from those used to generate print subscriptions...
1.) Research Your Target Market...
Target to a specific group of interests who share very specific information needs, and are willing to pay a premium price for that information monthly and or annually. Do your research to find out what type of information people are willing to pay for.
2.) Prepare a Detailed Membership Website Content Plan...
Outline your content in as much detail as possible and make sure you have enough content to publish new information ongoing. You want to publish information that is hard to find and or in demand.
3.) Prepare A Detailed Competitive Market Analysis.
Search for competitive sites, request sample copies or purchase competitive publications, request media kits (which often contain tons of information about the market) and understand advertising and subscription pricing policies for your competition. This can help you to determine price points for your own membership fee with little effort.

What Is All This Web 2.0 Talk About?
Trying to Define Web 2.0
Web 1.0 Is So Last Year; Interaction, Multimedia Push Internet Forward - By BETH SNYDER BULIK
Published: July 10, 2006
YORK, Pa. (AdAge.com) -- Maybe the ultimate insult in the online world today is to be described as a Web 1.0 company. The so-called second wave of the internet revolution is all about Web 2.0. Sporting names such as Webaroo, Flickr, Trulia and Ning, the current crop of websites labeled Web 2.0 claim next-generation status.
While there is much debate-mostly within tech circles-there are a few things most pundits agree on. Web 2.0 companies are interactive. They invite consumer-generated comments and content, unlike Web 1.0 companies, which publish mostly read-only content.
"The trends that are captured by the concept of Web 2.0 are extremely valuable, like user participation and social media," said Greg Sterling, analyst with Sterling Market Intelligence. "[But] the term is not meaningful to the consumer at all. Where Web 2.0 has meaning is in the venture-capital community, because it's a buzzword. And also, in the insider world of the net, people know it conveys a sort of sense of cool or forward-looking company."

25 Ways to Add Quality Content to Your Web Site....
By Robin Nobles - July 05, 2006
We've known for a long time that quality matters to Google. In a post Senior Google Engineer Matt Cutts made to his blog, "quality" was mentioned several times as being important to Google. Quality matters when it comes to content, and it matters when it comes to links.
However, building content and links doesn't have to be painful. Web site owners tend to think of content in a very limited way.
So, let's open up our creative minds and think of all sorts of ways of adding quality content to a Web site.

Have You Seen Google's ALL New SEO Tool, Google Trends?
Learn About Google Trends
With Google Trends, you can compare the world's interest in your favorite topics.
Enter up to five topics and see how often they've been searched for on Google over time. Google Trends also displays how frequently your topics have appeared in Google News stories, and which geographic regions have searched for them most often.
So How does Google Trends work?
Google Trends analyzes a portion of googol web searches to compute how many searches have been done for the terms you enter relative to the total number of searches done on Google over time. We then show you a graph with the results -- our search-volume graph -- plotted on a linear scale.
Located just beneath our search-volume graph is our news-reference-volume graph. This graph shows you the number of times your topic appeared in Google News stories. When Google Trends detects a spike in the volume of news stories for a particular term, it labels the graph and displays the headline of an automatically selected Google News story written near the time of that spike. Currently, only English-language headlines are displayed, but we hope to support non-English headlines in the future.
Below the search and news volume graphs, Google Trends displays the top cities, regions, and languages for the first term you entered. Learn more today at: www.google.com/trends.Monday, July 03, 2006

Attention! If You Are An Internet Retailer Keep Reading...
www.internetretailer.com
2005 was another banner year for the Internet retailing industry with merchants across the board achieving significantly higher sales, average tickets, conversion rates and traffic.
by Mark Brohan
Internet retailing has seen a decade of extraordinary growth. What’s more, during the past 10 years the web consistently has outperformed many multi-channel retailers’ store and catalog sales channels. Regardless, many retailers and industry analysts expected a softer year in 2005. After all, national economic indicators suggested shakier consumer confidence due to higher energy prices, a cutback in consumer spending brought about by a cooling housing market and overarching worries over the sporadic economy. Four All New Important Channels Added to eBay.com
One is the eBay Wiki (www.ebaywiki.com), where members can publish and/or contribute to articles of interest among the eBay community. Another enhancement is the new Members Blogs (http://blogs.ebay.com) that allow eBay users to create and publish journal type entries in their own space on eBay. Bloggers can post photos, link to other sites and converse about their interests.
Although best known for its auctions, over a third of eBay’s sales occur within a fixed-price format. A new eBay Express site launched this week to focus on new merchandise sold at fixed prices. Find out more at: http://www.express.ebay.com/.
Skype is the fourth innovation discussed at the conference. This new eBay company enables you to chat or call from your computer via the Internet. This downloadable software program provides an easy way for members to communicate using actual voices. With Skype, you can talk to anyone, anywhere for free. For more information about this new technology, check out: http://pages.ebay.com/skype/

What "It" Is eBay Wants
Acrobats and an Elvis impersonator warmed up the eBay crowd at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino Thursday for the Baby Boomer-era rock concert by Huey Lewis & the News. The gala dinner concert was a fitting end to the fifth-annual "eBay Live" convention aimed mostly at people who sell on the sprawling online marketplace.
At its convention, eBay chief executive Meg Whitman announced the site had registered its 200 millionth user. And though growth is slowing, trade on eBay is vast and getting bigger every day--more than $44 billion worth of goods changed hands on the site last year. That would make it the world's 11th-largest retailer if eBay actually owned the inventory instead of merely charging sales fees, said Whitman.
While eBay is best known for its auction format, more than a third of its sales volume now occurs in fixed-price format. And that is likely to expand even more, thanks to the new "eBay Express" site focused on new merchandise sold at fixed prices, which eBay officially launched this week after two months of testing. EBay said it would launch a major national ad campaign touting eBay Express this fall, along with the "it" theme (people can find whatever "it" is they want on eBay) introduced in commercials last year.
Looks like next years eBay Live 2007 conference will in held Boston MA.

Pugster.com is an online fashion jewelry company specializing in Italian charms. Pugster offers a line of accessories including charms, charm bracelets, brooches, beaded bracelets, silver rings and pendants, stainless steel earrings and Murano glass jewelry. The company primarily offers finished products but also customizes designs for wholesale and retail customers.

Italian charm bracelets were introduced by Italian jewelers. When the trend spread from Europe to the United States, a market was created for more affordable charms and fashion jewelry. Pugster offers a line of more than 15,000 Italian charms. Each charm is crafted with a gold plated piece, backed by high grade stainless steel.
Since its founding in 2002, the privately held company moved to Pasadena, California and continued to expand to more than 20 employees. E-Mail Marketing Tips For Faster Results
1.) The most effective times to send e-mail marketing messages are on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. These days work best because everyone has had the chance to clean out their weekend e-mail. It is best to send your e-mails late in the morning.
2.) By placing a time deadline on an e-mail offer you can boost response rates! One-day sales can be very successful.
3.) Utilize online contests and offline promotional events to grow your e-mail database. Tell-a-friend campaigns can be very effective if the person telling is rewarded for spreading the word with receiving a free gift or discount.
You must always think ahead! Be smart when planning your online marketing campaigns and always keep in mind "you must give to get!"
